A non-profit civilian organization aimed at supporting the men and women of the Nigerian armed forces and their families, raised alarm over the condition of the displaced people from Chibok, Borno state, currently residing in Kuje area council.
Funmi Oladeinde-Ogbue, the founder of Save Our Troop Foundation (SOTF), said that 500 people lacked access to food, water and housing, Leadership reports.
Mrs Oladeinde-Ogbue made this known after her visit to the Kuje camp. She vowed to build tents, provide food and water to the IDPs and to further provide education possibilities for the children.
Speaking in Abuja on April 27, Monday, in the course of the donation of some materials, the official added that they also had in plan to build a monument in honour of Nigerian soldiers in Abuja.
“In addition to 3000 books donated to Chief of Defence, ACM Alex Sabundu Badeh last week, we will like to run our back-to-school drive this year because orphans and widows of armed forces really deserve greater focus.”
Major Gen. Bamidele Ologundudu, who was representing Lt Gen Kenneth Minimah, the Chief of Army Staff, thanked the organization for the continuous support to the Nigerian army in their fight against insurgency.
Muhammadu Buhari, the president-elect, has recently called Boko Haram “a fraud” saying that the sect “can be defeated by denying it a recruitment base”.
