The business community in Nsukka has pleaded with Barr. Okey Ezea, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Enugu state to accept the election results of April 11, which saw him lose to Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The group according to Vanguard, pleaded with politicians in the state to take a cue from President Goodluck Jonathan who lost as an incumbent president but did not hesitate to concede defeat.
President of the group, Mr. Augustine Okagu, urged Ezea to bury the hatchet and partner with Ugwuanyi to move the state forward.
He said: “Now that the election is over and a winner has emerged, we congratulate Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the PDP and equally ask our brother, Okey Ezea, to accept the outcome in the interest of our state.
“We have no doubt in Ugwuanyi’s ability to justify the mandate that has been given to him by the people of Enugu State.”
Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the PDP emerged the winner of the April 11 governorship election in Enugu State polling 482,227 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr Okey Ezea of the APC, who got 43,839 votes.
