Last weekend was very chaotic for immigrants based in SA.
There was an uprising that led to some immigrants including Nigerians and Ghanaians to be subjected to xenophobic attacks. So John Dumelo was unhappy about it and expressly condemned what happened:
“The fact that a man can take the life of another, without any justification and with arrogance and impunity is depressing. We constantly lament the evils of terrorism and orchestrated religious attacks, but to what do we owe this? What did we (other Africans) ever do you South Africa?”
Immediately he released the statement however, a South African citizen quickly threatened John Dumelo for making his statement:
“If you hate South Africa so bad, then don’t ever come here. You never saw us in Ghana. All of you stay the hell away. Jeez, so much hate for us. Why? You are the ones who come here. Hambani Suka nxa.”
Many South African are very good people. But what this person did in threatening John Dumelo is in bad taste. Was John not within his right to condemn the killing of his fellow human being?
