NyamiraThere was drama at a village in Nyamira county yesterday when a burial ceremony aborted after the infant that was being laid to rest ‘rose from the dead’.
All the burial preparations had been put in place and even the grave dug. The baby was born on Sunday, two months early, and was taken to a hospital incubator. On Tuesday the family received the tragic news that the child had passed, and decided to embark on the burial preparations right away.
Just before the coffin was lowered, the aunt asked to have a final glimpse and upon opening the coffin, the baby gave her a big smile. They rushed the baby to a private hospital but not before giving it the name Emmanuel. Watch the clip from Citizen and hear the doctor explain the medical condition that may have misled nurses to think the child had died.
UPDATE: We’ve learnt that the baby was once again pronounced dead last night, just hours after the ‘resurrection’. What a sad ending
