18-Yr-Old Boy Emerges Best WAEC Candidate (See Breakdown)

An 18-year-old former student of Vaatia College, Makurdi in Benue state, Samuel Nder, has emerged the best candidate in the 2014 May/June West African Senior Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
The Sun reports that Nder, with exam number 4081345036, came top, beating over 1.7million candidates nationwide. Nder was honoured on Thursday, November 26 at the 53rd Annual Meeting of Nigera National Committee of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), in Akure, Ondo state.
Nder and two other candidates were rewarded for their performance in the May/June 2014 WASSCEs. Aside from Nder who obtained nine A1s in the school exam to emerge the best candidate, 18-year-old Onyinye Oguejiofor, formerly of Marist Comprehensive College, Nteje, Anambra state, came second with nine A1s while 17-year-old Oluwatobi Raji, formerly of St Francis Catholic Secondary School Idimu, Lagos, recorded nine A1s in the WASSCE.
Nder had A1s in economics, geography, English language, further mathematics, mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics with a total T-score of 659.4325, while Miss Ogueijiofor’s T-score was 648.5706 and Master Raji had a T-score of 640.2125.
Currently, the best candidate, Nder is studying software engineering at Saint Peterburg’s Electro-Technical University in Russia, Miss Onyinye is studying medicine and surgery at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Master Raji is studying petroleum engineering at the University of Lagos.
Meanwhile, a Nigerian student, Ufot Ekong, recently broke a 50-year record in Japan after graduating with a first class degree and best overall student from Tokai University in Tokyo Japan.
Earlier this year, we reported about a 17-year-old high school senior who also achieved unbelievable success when he was accepted by eight of the most prestigious universities in the world.
