After much speculations and rumours, the truth is finally out-right from the horse’s mouth… Hollywood veteran actor Charlie Sheen has revealed he is HIV positive in an explosive interview with Matt Lauer on Today. ‘I’m here to admit that I am in fact HIV positive,’ said Sheen. ‘It’s a hard three letters to absorb,’ he later added.
Sheen said that he learned he had the virus ‘roughly four years ago.’ His doctor, Robert Huizenga, later said he had been working with Sheen for five or six years and that the virus is now ‘undetectable’ in his blood.
Sheen also said that he was ‘not entirely’ sure how he contracted the virus and that he felt a huge sense of relief after publicly revealing his status. Sheen said that he had told people that he trusted his status over the past few years, but also bought the silence of others. He was once the highest paid actor on television, earning a reported $1.8million per episode for his work on Two and a Half Men during the show’s eighth season. The actor has had numerous problems with drugs and alcohol over the years, and was ultimately fired from his role on Men when he demanded more money for his work following his third stint in rehab in a 12-month period.
